Overall I would say we had great expectations for Princess but were sadly disappointed overall due to the lack of quality food and service. We will be taking another Celebrity cruise to Alaska in July and am looking forward to it so much more after this lackluster experience with Princess. We also have a mystery $252.73 charge on our credit card that I am trying to get Princess to explain since we made zero onboard purchases other tha a few drink upgrades for $3. I will be disputing this charge with my bank since I cannot get an answer out of Princess. Buyer BEWARE!!
Embarkation

It would have been great if they had people or proper signage to direct you to the Green Line. We wasted 20 minutes in the wrong line.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
Very mediocore food in service in all three MDR's on this cruise. They seemed very short staffed and unmotivated to provide good service. It was like having waiters from Dennys serve you Applebees food.
International Café
4 out of 5
This is the best place to grab good food on the ship in a timely manner. The only drawback is there is a seperate line for food and drinks which means your food will be cold unless you ordere your drink first.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
We never heard any of the announcements over the speakers becuase people were partying. They moved the sail way party from the pool to the piazza but nobody at the pool had a clue. Why dod they not announce these things through the fancy app?!?
Entertainment
3 out of 5
We just sat at trhe bars and enjoyed the live music. This was the best part of the cruise. We made some new friends and really enjoyed their company.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
Very medicore service in general. We never got a warm fuzzy feeling at any point and we are extremely friendly outgoing people. It was just like the crew was going through the motions. I have no idea who the captian or cruise director was.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
Beautiful ship with a very strange layout that we never quite figured out. You cannot access the back of the ship from the front on some decks without goiung up or down a deck. It made zero sence to someone who designs for a living.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
The cabin was very nice ans spacious but the furniture showed some wear and tear and had some dubiuos stains that would show up better under a black light.
Ship tip
Check your onboard folio daily and look out for bogus charges!!! Better yet, book another cruise line.
We live in San Diego so we naturally do not care for LA but San Pedro was a fun place to visit the night before our cruise. We found some great local drinks and food.
I've been on Discovery Princess twice and really like the ship and never had an issue with service or food quality, cause both are above average. There is only one deck that does not go through from forward to aft and that's on deck 6 due to the MDR, otherwise I don't understand why you couldn't. If you supposedly had a questionable charge on your account, why didn't you take care of before leaving ship? You can check you folio charges on the TV, automated kiosk to print your daily charges, or use the Medallion, so it seems you failed to do something that is too easy, cause when I cruise with Princess, I check it all the time, not for bogus charges, but to just make sure I don't over spend.
Glad you enjoyed Los Angeles (San Pedro is part of the City of LA). Always look at your charges before leaving the ship. I like Celebrity also except their food is not as good as Princess in my experience. Of course food is subjective.
