Ruby Princesss Oct. 29-Nov. 5 2016 by nir6709

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Ruby Princess / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

The itinerary was good. The ship was dated and seemed disorganized at times it seemed this was the first cruise it had been on.

Upon embarking the ship we were invited to eat at the Horizon Buffett which has the worst lay out and not enough seating for all of the new passengers embarking. Food is not good and it is the same food offered the entire week. The Dinning room food was not good either we ate there two nights, we ended up eating off the ship or eating pizza. We did eat at one of the other choices which was the Crown Grill service and food was worth the $29.00 fee.

Our stateroom was nice enough for an inside cabin with loads of closet space.

Drink service around the pool area's were almost not happening. In 5 hours we were asked once if we wanted a drink.

Entertainment on Sea days was lacking. But the evening shows were pretty good.

This cruise seems to be most popular among an older crowd. Lots of scooters wheel chair ect......

Getting off the ship was a big mess. Took us one hour to actually make it to immigration. They called almost everyone one to get off at once. We were walk off number one.

All in all it was a good cruise, but the ship has no Wow factor at all....Just a very basic nothing to really brag about cruise. I would not take this ship again.

sunshine and pleasant by krizekcj

Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

If you are young or middle age this cruise is not for you. Few kids on board.  The ship is in need of an overhaul. Worn carpet and furniture, no interactive t.v.  on the positive side this cruise appeals to the 50s-70,s crowd.  Good food, great fellow passengers and activities on board and on shore good for this demographic.

California Coastla by sk8rsmom22

This was a wonderful get away.  Being from California we had been to all the cities that the ship docked at.  We found something new to do in each port.  We discovered Glass blowing in Santa Barbara.  The Queen Mary is in the same location that we docked in Long Beach.  The Scavenger Hunt in San Diego was educational and fun.  On the way back to SF there were whales.  It was fun to stand on our balcony and see the spouts.

Great Cruise! by Cruiser60974622

The 7-Night California Coastal Cruise on Princess was great! The ship was beautiful and the cruise was very relaxing. The crew was very friendly and helpful and always smiling. We ate one night in the speciality restaurant, the Crown Grill, and it was outstanding. We would definitely recommend this cruise to everyone. Actually, we are planning to take this cruise again with friends. A "must do" cruise!

Laid back cruise by churchservices

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Ruby Princess / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

As a resident of California, this cruise was a laid back one for us.  We have been to all the ports in the past, so we were not over anxious to see "everything".  The best part was the ship was in port for many hours which gave people the time they needed to go ashore and visit.  All of the ports dropped you off right downtown so it was easy to get off the ship and find something to do without paying for excursions.  The entertainment was excellent at night.  The food was good.  I know it is hard to feel several thousand people each meal but I would love to have my food hotter.  I think that is just the nature of the beast with cruises.  We had a great time as we visited relatives in each port.  Just fun.

Nice cruise but too short by dmballew14798

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Ruby Princess / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

Check in at San Pedro was so smooth and there was no waiting in long lines. We did express walk off with all our bags and that was fast also.  Anytime dining option only offered 530-545pm or 8pm reservations.  They were not at all flexible which does not sound like Anytime dining.  We enjoyed all the ports but Santa Barbara is a tender port and that is a hassle.  Speciality dining has $29 or $39 cover charge which is pricey.  Crown grill has great food but service was slow and they would only give our party of six a 530pm reservation eventho we called early.  The new SHARE restaurant for $39 does not have a very appealing menu.

Very fun cruise by danielledavino

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Star Princess / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

They have pretty good food, fun entertainment, but would benefit from opening both dining rooms up for the people who want anytime dining to prevent us from having to wait on a long line. After all, that is the point of any time dining, instant gratification on our pampering cruise.

Princess Service was Grand by gonzo57392900

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

The Grand is starting to show her age and going into dry dock in December should help . A big positive was the EXCELLENT service provided by Amador and Micheal at table 175 . Great selections on the evening meal . a large weakness were the evening shows . The dog act has to go along with Steve Morsi and his outlandish gay jokes!

One item I and others questioned ,was the SRO for the British Invasion show . Filled to capacity-one reason being that there was only one show-BUT how does  Princess lines allow folks to come in after the show starts and even let passengers stand by the railings? Seemed quite dangerous!!

Great Cruise Experience by markw268

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Ruby Princess / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

We haven't sailed on Princess Cruise Line for a long time, what a mistake. This cruise line gives the little extras that the others don't have. Larger inside rooms for storage and movies on deck with Pop-Corn. The meals given were large portions with many choices. The wait staff were efficient and friendly. We had many activities throughout the day. Which included: Tour of Kitchen, playing bridge Trivia contests, etc.  Overall, a great vacation. Thank you Vacation outlet for the reservation.Happy

Interesting Itinerary. Average Ship. by Kileykb

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Ruby Princess / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

Being able to visit different parts of California in one trip was great. The ship was average. Nothing terrible, but nothing memorable. The best food I had on the ship was the Bircher Muesli for breakfast. The entertainment was Ok. The lead female vocalist was wonderful. The male lead vocalist had pitch problems. The singing and dancing numbers were too imaginative. Simple would have been better. The Magician and Mentalist were redundant. Since they both had multiple shows it was too much. The comedian had too narrow a repertoire. I didn't find him funny. He also was overused. All the food was pretty good. Mongolian night and Bavarian night at the buffet seemed unpopular. I only chose this cruise for the itinerary, which was fabulous.

Poor customer service. Staff looked tired and overworked. by meguez

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Ruby Princess / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

We enjoyed the balcony and great weather. We used the assigned table at the Botticcelli Restoran only the first day. The beverage server was pleasant, the waiter had a look like if our questions bother him. A third server kept talking vulgar Spanish words, so uncomfortable that I called his attention, it was impossible to have a pleasant evening with someone cursing every two words. Under the bed we found a bag full of dirty clothes and the drawers had papers dated as far as 2014. There is lack of management, complete disengament from staff with passengers. Looks like everything were done because it must be done but with no pleasure of doing it. Sad the tips are pre-paid 90% interacting with us didn't deserve it. First and last Princess cruise for us. Thank God this wasn't our first cruise if not we will never try again. Thanks for the opportunity to share our experience.

it was beautiful, clean, and well organized. The services were outstanding! From the stateroom to the restaurants! The food was good! The employees were very friendly! The disembarkation process was very smooth even though there was a delay from the immigration part of it. I was happy with the experience I had with Princess cruise! I cannot stop telling friends about it and I will definitely cruise with Princess again!

A GOOD TIME WAS HAD BY ALL. by Kathy007

Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

We enjoyed the time together in the ship's friendly atmosphere.  Service was excellent, the food was good an plentiful and the facilities  on board provided some exciting activities, such as the ice skating rink for our 8-year-old grandson.

worst cruise ever! by wardia3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

4 days to straighten out the pillow situation in the room,   2 more days and 4 phone calls to get the television to work,   food was low quality and the service even lower.  Activities on board were sorely lacking during the day.   dining room not open for lunch,  buffet only upstairs.   descriptions of excursions sounded great but 2 different ones we booked n board were deceptive as we found out while touring.  disappointed was not the word.

Unhappy or disinterested crew by nhojnoom

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

The cabin steward and the Splash Academy staff did a wonderful job but 2 days at sea was too much with an uncaring and often intrusive service staff.  Many of the crew were obvoisly sick with colds which didn't help when given dirty silverware. Disemlbarkation was a disater.

West coast cruise by choochoo2020

Favorite part was visiting Victoria, BC, and Astoria, Oregon.  Didn't realize this was a back-to-back cruise - had too many sea days for me.  Next time I'll research cruise itself more.
