Wonderful experience. by shenxiaolan

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Encore / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Overall, great experience get on NCL Encore. With the pandemic still around, wish NCL still have the Test before on board. Exclusion Victoria can be scheduled longer and better.

Better than I anticipated by fortressgirl

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

The Crown had known propulsion problems, but nothing can be done about the engine failure, and yes the ship was traveling at low speeds. Juneau was a short stop, as was Icy Strait. Skagway was too long, but we assume it was to accommodate the Glacier Bay scheduling. Bottom line, we had a very pleasant cruise and our concerns pre-sailing were unfounded.

Nice Cruise, Not So Much for a 5 Year Old.... by sheriffav8r

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Bliss / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

We were testing out a cruise with our 5 year old. He enjoyed his time at the Splash Academy, but the hours were entirely too short and the activities were wholly contained on the Academy premises. A couple of the Port Calls were poorly planned by NCL and made the time in port wholly unsatisfying. For these two reasons, we will not cruise NCL again with a young child or repeat this itinerary.

Very good cruise. The weather in july was perfect by fivegese

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Bliss / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

The alaskian cruise was well planned. The Norwegian bliss is a ship with so much to offer. I think more time at each port would improve the experience.

Ok value by htorok

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

It is a nice ship, with friendly staff, and many activities. We booked 2 shore tours on Viator, to make sure we have local tour guides. The mandatory gratuity of $14.50 per person/day was an unpleasant surprise, I didn't see it in the term/conditions when I booked the tour, and it was an additional $304.5 expense.

Disappointed by nicolecookphoto

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

We've cruised many times and this was our first cruise after the pandemic but if it had been our first cruise we'd probably never cruise again. The ship was clean and the staff was nice for the most part, but things were definitely lacking. Our balcony had chipping paint that would come off in sheets and the bathroom had chipped tile in the shower and a flimsy shower curtain - everything just looked tired and worn. And most of the food was just ok if not lacking. For instance the trifle dessert (which is typically made with pound cake layered with cream/custard and fresh berries) was served at dinner in a plastic cup with canned fruit cocktail trapped in gelatin and topped with a flavorless layer of yellow "cream" and a dollop of what tasted like Cool Whip. It was something you'd expect in a school cafeteria, not on a cruise. A lot of other dishes were like this, although the main course entrées were typically better. Also the waiters served my husband and son first, and it was a little weird to sit there and be the last person to get a menu or drink - I guess "ladies first" is outdated these days ;) The evening entertainment was mixed - some people could sing and others could not, the comedian was funny one night and not the second night, it was all just a little campy and not as polished as other cruises. The ports of call were mostly just shops selling jewelry and souvenirs and there was very little else to do. Icy Straight Point had the longest zip line in the world (1 mile long) so we did that and it was a blast. The cost was $179 per person. Other things we liked: the fresh squeezed orange juice ($3.50) was delicious, the chocolate mud pie cookies at the coffee shop were amazing and we saw lots of whales and bald eagles from our balcony. But there weren't enough positives to offset the disappointment we felt on this cruise. It was the priciest cruise we've done yet it felt like a second-rate experience. And although I'm sure we'll cruise again, it probably won't be on RCL.

Alaska Hubbard Glacier by lowens1962

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Sun / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Love Alaska. This was our third time to visit. Second time with NCL. And likely our last NCL cruise. The port times were too short and we were docked so far away from the towns. Glad this was not our first cruise, or I might not be able to get my husband to cruise again. Have already booked our next one, with another cruise line.

Mediocre at best by RosaHndz

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)

This was not our first cruise, but definitely our first on Norwegian. Food was mediocre and so was the entertainment. I will not cruise ever with Norwegian. We also caught COVID upon our return, which made it even worse.

Good cruise except for the week lock-up by CovidCruisers

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Queen Elizabeth / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Don't catch covid... we had our 72 hour pre-cruise PCR negative test, both vaccinations and both boosters, and wore masks. Cunard doesn't mess around... if they test you positive, you get thrown into the covid isolation wing of the ship.

Poor service with new ship by debbannon1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Discovery Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Won’t ever do a Princess cruise again. They dropped the ball so many times on things that I had to go to guest services for, and guest service even gave wrong directions Food was average. I had birthday and anniversary on ship, told them prior to and once in restaurant. Wasn’t acknowledged at all. Anniversary they tried and told they would send our anniversary cake to room. Never happened

Fantastic! by afranz158

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Eclipse / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

This was our first time going on a cruise and I really want to give a shout out to all the staff who made this experience fantastic. I would’ve liked to seen game room with family games and maybe a convenience store on board For things like energy drinks.
