All in all, we will not return to this company. When you add up all the small errors, the bigger mistakes, the sloppiness of how many things were done coupled with ZERO peace and quiet, we did not enjoy this cruise at all other than the scenery. We have already booked a 2-week cruise on a different type of ship for the next trip and we plan to return to Alaska without the NCL Bus. For the money, we did not receive a good value.

Alaska w/ Hubbard Glacier and Sitka by clue46120

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Amsterdam / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

We enjoyed our cruise, but we would like Holland America to offer more games, contests and activities on the sea days. We would like to have more time in the ports. The customer service was outstanding in every way.

First Time Cruiser - Extremely Satisfied by YankeeDoodle89

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

We enjoyed the freestyle cruising. We aren't big drinkers so we passed on the all inclusive beverage package - it was just as well as I didn't care for any of the red wines they served. I found the complimentary beverages (water, lemonade, ice tea, coffee, teas, juices) more than sufficient. There were tons of hand sanitizer stations around the ship keeping us all healthy. Liquid soaps in the heads, though the shampoo was pretty bad. Tons of storage in our cabin. We actually had spare shelf and drawer space! Very few people participated in the dress up night or white night, and only a few people hung 'door art'. Our cabin steward was the best...we tipped him in advance but regret not giving him his final tip the night before we left because a new steward showed up the day we disembarked... I have a bad feeling our steward didn't get his whole tip :( Wear a watch so you don't have to drag your cell phone around to tell time - not many clocks on the ship. There were tons of activities - far more than we could get to. Loved the spa - it was very generously sized and I liked showering there will the ample towels and robes vs our room. Worth every penny of the price for the pass (cheaper if you buy in advance.) We all thought the food was great. Cagney's and the Bistro were great specialty dining options. Initially I thought the serving sizes at O'Sheehans were small, but after I adjusted to the idea that I could order as much as I wanted they seemed just fine. It was a good way to avoid waste. Remember, they are expecting each person to order an appetizer, soup/salad, entrée and dessert. Since you wouldn't take a doggie bag home, it makes sense to cut back on serving sizes.

Alaskan cruise by dmcnulty2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group

The locations visited are nice but our family vacation was ruined by the rooms on the cruise ship. They were not what we paid for or what we were made to believe we were getting.

Amazing Alaskan Cruise by pamarka

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Ruby Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Overall it was a very nice cruise. We enjoyed it very much. The weather was warm the whole time, and we only needed a light wind breaker on occasion, mainly Glacier Bay. Would definitely do this cruise again.

Excellent way to experience Alaska by trentoncorneliu

The service was exceptional. The food choices were great. It's probably had to eat for a week high level food without missing some of your own personal favorites from home.

Must-see Alaska by Nandez04

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

My only complaint was that traveling with two kids who aren't strong swimmers, the pools are too deep. All of the main pools are 5-7 feet deep which is way too deep for young kids. An adult would have to hold them the whole time. The only pool onboard that was 3 feet deep was an adult-only pool.

Alaska Cruise - Zecca by markzecca

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

The comment section for the cabin was not working so we are commenting on it here. We had a wonder suite (Port of Spain Suite). However, the service to the suite was just like a regular cabin. Rolan our Steward was great, don't get me wrong, but usually there is a special service butler or cabin attendant that provides additional service. There were a few small things, like it was indicated at check in and in the room documents that laundry was free. However, we were charged for it on our exit bill. We tried to exchange some champagne with another bottle of equal or great value (and pay the difference) for five days and never completed the transaction. We don't drink champagne but do like Asti or Riesling. We called room service, talked to the Associate Mater D, room steward, etc. Again, not a big deal, but I had called ahead with the Spa & wine package and they told me over the phone to work it out with our cabin steward. The Suite Breakfast in the Crown Grill was a terrible experience. We showed up there one day (a port day) where the paper in the cabin stated it ran from 7am-9:30. We showed up at about 8:50am. They were closed. At first the Mater D indicated that they closed at 0900. I showed him the paper and he said, "well no one was here so we closed." We did go back several days later and showed up around 8:40 on a Sea Day (they were open until 10:30). The staff was somber, almost depressed. You could tell no one wanted to work there. They did not introduce themselves, they took our order, someone else brought it and that was about it. They were busy taking the table clothes off the other tables, vacuuming, and setting up for lunch. One morning we went to the Club Class area, and there Mater D Razan immediately greeted us, was super friendly, the staff were happy, helpful, and very attentive. Razan made us personal crepes & Nutella, and they kept bringing orange juice coffee, and sweet rolls throughout the meal. I spoke to Vasco, the Associate Mater D at dinner and suggest they move Razan to the Crown Grill. Maybe more people would show up with that kind of service leadership!

Great voyage for kids - Not so great ship by donream29627283

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

When compared to the exact same Princess cruise we took six years ago, Norwegian leaves a lot to be desired. We had two teenagers and two ten year old's along with us. The teen club was really lacking in supervised activities when compared to the Princess activities. Although the daily schedule is filled with "activities," most of them are designed to separate you from our money. All the cruise lines do this, but Norwegian goes to an extreme. The buffet was just OK, while the specialty restaurants were very good. There wasn't the "friendliness" from many of the crew members that we've experienced on other cruise lines. The Norwegian excursions are extremely expensive. Other cruises we've been on with children, had, at least, one evening show that would appeal to kids. The Norwegian "family" show was a guy doing card tricks. The Princess cruise had a "real" magician, jugglers, etc. If you're traveling with kids, go with Princess.
