The shows are sub par.  Felt like I was watching a High school musical.  No food after midnight unless you pay for room service.  The bartenders at the pool were not very friendly.  Should sell bathing suits

Fabulous experience by vcocianni

This cruise was excellent even for folks that are not great outdoors people. The ship is great and the crew were fantastic. I would definitely recommend it. My only suggestion is to plan to arrive a day early and leave the day after you dock in Seward to avoid the stress of almost missing the boat or the return flights.

WHAT A GREAT VACATION!! by candy722

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Sun / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

At first I was a little worried as to what to expect. All the flights went very well, not much lay over time between flights.just enough to relax and have dinner or lunch. The shuttles went smooth no waiting time at all. The cruise itself was fabulous. Always something to do. The crew was a real fun bunch.Had a wonderful time dancing & laughing. A good choice of food in all the restaurants and the sightseeing is breathtaking. Will not have a chance to do this  again, but would highly recommend this trip.Would go Norwegian again

Alaska Crusing! by damjishah

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Sun / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Great  experience! Dining room staff was great. Nightly entertainment was superb. Excursions were varied and interesting!

Cabin staff created many animals from towels.

Our server, Javier Marcos, gave us excellent service at table 25.  We advised him we were in a rush and we were quite pleased by his charming & excellent service.

We did think the trip we bought to the Saxman was really overpriced since the ride was short and the show included mostly children.

The bartenders need to improve mojitos and daiquiris!!!

Scenery is just fascinating throughout the cruise.

Inside Passage North bound Alaska Cruise by rltorri

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Sun / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

We cruised Freestyle on Norwegian Sun. It was a smaller ship that was clean but in need of updating. Staff and service were amazing. Cruise Director was Richard and he made it lots of fun. Could have had a few more on board activities. Gorgeous landscape and great ports ( Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway and Seward). Would recommend booking excursions in advance yet not via cruise line or airline. Found when booked on my own saved hundreds!

The crew were excellent, the food horrible! by odalismlopez1

Ship: Norwegian Sun / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Our cruise crew was outstanding, service, excellent, however we were very disappointed at the food that was served.  Both in the buffet restaurant and the two other sit down restaurants complimentary with our cruise, The Seven Seas and Four Seasons.

We expected seafood at least one day on the ship and that did not happen, not even peel and eat shrimp! Not once! No crab, no shrimp and certainly no lobster.Angry

AMAZING EXPERIENCE! by dkosutic

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Celebrity was an amazing experience at all levels (organization, food quality, excursions, top notch service on the boat, extremely friendly staff, beautiful ship.  And an excellent bargain, too! Everyone went out of their way to make us comfortable, even changing our dinner hour.  All the staff seemed knowledgeable about cruise details as well, which was helpful - the guys who cleaned our room had detailed info. about each stop and general cruise info. as well.  They were constantly cleaning the ship front eh start through to the end of the cruise - no messes at all.

This is our first time cruising and our experience was truly beyond expectation. From booking the cruise until we reached our final destination, everything went well. We'll definitely do it again! Thank you Royal Caribbean!

Very good experience by weixu30

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

It has been a very good experience at Celebrity Millennium. The stateroom is spacious for a couple and one young child. The food is great and the staff are very friendly and helpful. There are a lot of activities ongoing on board. I like the pool and spa center. The shows are great in the theater. It is very relaxing to cruise with Millennium. The shore excursions are fantastic and we got to see the best part of Alaska. Embarkation and disembarkation are very smooth.

Good ship, great views by iamfabi

Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

We struggled at first because Princess would not give us room assignments but once we insisted, we liked where we were and felt better knowing where we would be. The staff was not as friendly as we had ons previous Carnival cruise. They were nice enough but not the outstanding friendliness we had experienced before. We did manage to find one lovely, cheerful waiter that we stuck with! There were two morning were loud ship repairs were being done and it woke is up around 7:30 or 8am. I hate being woken up when I can sleep in on vacation. The food was not as tasty as I had hoped either but I figured it must be hard to feed so many. We still loved our time on the ship and the Alaska sights were amazing. Mark the Naturalist was a favorite as he pointed out all the wonders we were seeing and taught us about bears and whales. Also was a pleasure to run into him on the ship. The magician and comedian shows were horrible but the dance shows were cute. We had a good time. Thanks for showing us Alaska Coral Princess!

Family Trip to Alaska by cbcgug

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Star Princess / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

There were 19 of us on the trip and the boat acommodated us perfectly. We enjoyed the casino, bingo and all of the excursions. The crew was very friendly and helpful when needed.  We had the late seating at dinner and because of the large number of us we were always one of the last groups to finish so we were not able to make the night shows.  We were all surprised that the food was very mediocre.  Breakfast was the best meal of the day because of all the choices.  We all ate a lot of pizza on the trip because the lunches were not very good.  Dinner was fine, nothing wonderful.  There was certainly plenty of food available for us, we just were all just surprised that it wasn't better.

Excursions are essential! by cruisingjodi

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Star Princess / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

The towns visited are very small with little other than tourist shops, but that's not what you go to Alaska for. All of our excursions were wonderful, I highly recommend that you book an excursion in every port.

The ship was great. The food was not that exciting. Overall experience was very good. The program needs little more variation. Shore excursion was very well organized. Guides were knowledgeable.

Experience of a Lifetime by joyfantastic

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

This cruise was wonderful! We've wanted to visit Alaska for years and finally did it. Worth every penny. The stops thoughout the cruise made it memorable. The shore excursions are what really make it worthwhile.

Service on the Radiance was very efficient. Our needs were met with very little wait, like when we needed blankets in order not to freeze while watching the poolside movie.  There were a couple of moments when I was left scratching my head. For example, I asked for ham with my pancakes in the Cascades dining room. The server appeared perplexed by my order. He returned with finely diced ham (like you might put in a salad) and asked if it was okay. What I found most confusing about this is that upstairs at the Windjammer buffet they were serving sliced ham. I had the same experience when I asked for the low fat raspberry vinaigrette served upstairs. My waiter seemed perplexed. To her credit, she did bring it with my salad. Aside from those small moments, everyone did a great job to make this a wonderful experience. We greatly enjoyed ourselves!

Trip of a lifetime by docasey

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

We highly recommend this trip to Alaska.  They don't tell you that the weather will likely be rainy - try to do the trip in June as that is the best weather.  But even when it rains - the trip was amazing.  Spend the money on the excursions - you will not be sorry - you see so much deeper into Alaska.  The land trip is also a must see.  Alyeska, Talkeetna, Denali and the Wilderness express are not to be missed.

Great time in Alaska by rbtlopez

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pacific Princess / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

We truly enjoyed our trip. The cruise staff was very friendly and helpful. We ate in the buffet almost every day in order to avoid the formality of the dining arrangements. We found the food to be plentiful and varied. We chose not to dress up for formal evenings and felt comfortable being casual. The atmosphere was very relaxed and there was no pressure to follow the crowd.

Expereince of a Lifetime by CruisingDelight

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Sun / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

My husband and I were first time cruisers, first visit to Alaska.  Very glad we chose the cruise for our first taste of alaska and it's splendor.  We liked the cruise aspect because we were able to see more towns/areas of Alaska than if we drove(some of the towns are not accessible via roads), and much easier than if we tried to coordinate on our own with a ferry etc.  If you choose a cruise, the excursions are a MUST to truly appreciate and feel like you are experiencing alaska, plus, for us it was a once in a lifetime opportunity for us, so we figured go big or go home.  (which unfortunately gets very expensive, but well worth it.  I would highly recommend a helicopter flight to a glacier, it feels like you are on another planet!).   The ports on the glacier bay northbound were nice and perfectly placed between each other.  I only wish we would get more time in town to not feel so rushed and be able to explore beyond the commercialized touristy parts of town more.  The cruise staff on the sun were FANTASTIC, everyone is SO attentive to your needs and always happy, willing to help and go the extra mile. This means ALL staff, not just the cruise directors, but even all service staff etc.  They really make you feel at home, like family.  The entertainment was a little cheesy, but we still participated in many events/things and had a truly fabulous time.  Even my quieter husband participated in some of the game shows and had a really good time!!  The captain of the ship is a truly neat, humble man, I enjoyed the meet and greets, and question and answer times.  Probably my only or biggest concern was all the push to spend money on board.  It just felt like everything was getting thrown at us constantly, and not at inexpensive prices.  Kinda leaves you feeling like the ship is a money vacuum machine...but truly, even that being said, we had a WONDERFUL TIME!!!!

very nice route to take a cruise by GeorgeLin

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Sun / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

This is a very scenary route for cruising which I recommend to everyone.

The on board experience is standard although the food is nothing special, which is not what I expect for this route of cruising since I am more interested in the places the ship stops and scenery views on the ship's path.  Free style gives you the comfort as you go off and on board. Meals for all the eight days are almost the same. For those who likes food and formal events, this may not the choice. Camera with a long zoom lense or a binocular definitely add more joy for your trip. If one is  looking for pool side activities, this route may not be the choice since the weather is a bit too cold.
