I stayed in Galveston for several days prior to the cruise. It was a great place with a lot of interesting stores to walk around and check out. Lots of neat older homes to see around the island as well. I would recommend taking a ghost tour or two while there, besides hearing some great ghost stories, I also learned a lot about the history of the island. Also take some time to walk the beach on the gulf side of the island, it's a very relaxing walk and view.

I've sailed from out of Galveston several times, also I've sailed from several other ports and Galveston seems to be the only one you spend a lot of time setting around waiting to board the ship.

We thought the shows in the main theater were the worst of any cruise I've been on. The comedians were great however. Food was better than average and the main dining room staff were excellent.

We found plenty to do in Galveston and Houston. My only complaint is that it is expensive to get from the airport to the pier and for this reason we probably won’t sail out of Texas again.

We live in Texas so Galveston is not our favorite port lol the water is not pretty like it is in Mexico!
