I live an hour from here so no sight seeing. I always embark and disembark here with no problems. I park in the port of Galveston lots. There are always shuttles to help with luggage to and from the ship. Customs and security no issues. And there are so many signs and directions for cruise parking you can't miss.

Galveston is a nice island. I prefer this port for my convenience. The newish boardwalk is cute. Had lunch at Bubba Gump before boarding...within a mile of port.

This cruise was my first time to Galveston. We stayed in a hotel right off the ocean next to port. Everything was so easy to get to. Water was gray but it was an ocean.. who could complain .

Anyone going out of Galveston this weekend February 2-4 or next weekend February 9-11 remember it's Mardi Gras. If you don't have a room it maybe hard to find.

My complaint was how they handled port assist with my mother. Once they asked and realized she didn’t have a scooter(not even sure where that came from) she was forgotten. No assistance and it was painful for her. From what I understand Royal Caribbean is one of the top cruise companies for assistance. Sadly, we never saw a difference.

We came in 2 days early and stayed at the Tremont. This is close to the Strand where there are plenty of things to do before embarkation day. We mostly enjoyed the restaurants and bars.
