Review summary

The Freedom is a great ship- the staff really made the trip an amazing experience. We loved our cruise so much, my husband told me to book another one to Belize/Montego Bay for next year! I admit it, we're addicted.

Embarkation

We walked right on with hardly any wait.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The Steakhouse was amazing, and the main dining room was terrific! We had a wonderful time, too much great food!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
There wasn't much to do on the Freedom but relaxing was good too. The Fun staff does an excellent job with all their activities.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The shows are well done, with a nice blend of musical styles so there is something for everyone.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff across the entire ship were wonderful, friendly and hard-working. They all do an incredible job.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
I had read several less than favorable things about the Freedom but we disagree- the ship was spotless.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
This was our first time having a window cabin and it was great! We enjoyed the little bit of extra space and our room steward was incredible.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

Galveston is a nice place- the parking we use is excellent.

Montego Bay, Jamaica

Jamaica was beautiful from a distance but we did not enjoy our time in Montego Bay overall. We used the Hop On/Hop Off bus and wish we had not. We were only planning on going to Doctor's Cave, but the bus goes to Rose Hall Shopping. The stores were smaller versions of the same shops you can find in any port and not worth the time. Doctor's Cave was a beautiful beach but it was nothing special. The vendors trying to sell you marijuana/shells/bracelets did not help the experience (we knew about the marijuana sells, but that didn't make it less annoying). We were also told numerous times the HOHO was only $20, the price is not marked but we were actually charged $25 per person.

George Town, Grand Cayman

5 out of 5
We booked a one snorkel stop/Stingray city excursion through Captain Marvin's and it was amazing!! I cannot say enough wonderful things about the excursion or Capt. Marvin's incredible staff! They made sure we had the best experience, stayed with us throughout the time with the stingrays and made sure each of us had a great time.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
This was our second time visiting Chakaanab where we swam with the manatees. It is one of our most wonderful experiences. The park is beautiful, the snorkeling is great and getting to swim/play with manatees is amazing.

Disembarkation

We made sure to be out of our room before eight a.m., had a leisurely breakfast on the Lido deck, and walked right off the ship when our deck was called. It took a little time to process through the passport line but the wait was minimal.
