You have to fly into Houston. I recommend private transportaion to Galveston over Carnival's bus shuttle.

Not much here but a port. The water is brown and uninviting.

We have been here many times. Easy to travel to and enough to do.

Traffic around the port is horrible. They supposedly have staggered check-in times but no one was outside giving instructions. Everyone just got in a huge line outside and shuffled toward the door to the building. More mazes inside the building.

Great port. We stayed at the Harbor House Hotel and Marina and walked just one block to the port. Very nice walk-able area with lots of restaurants around.

It was crowded, but the lines moved quickly.

We spent the night before the cruise at Four Points Hotel in Galveston, that's all we did.

Embarkation was great, Customs at debarkation was a bit slow. Hotels in the area are on the expensive side, but many to choose from. A lot to do on The Strand if you are early for embarkation.
