We prefer cruising out of Ft. Lauderdale over Miami. We like to stay there prior to a cruise for a couple of nights. We did not do a ships excursion. We have friends in the area.

We took an excursion to kill time before our late afternoon flight. The excursion was a combination of a tour bus through the high end district and a boat ride to see the inner channels were top CEO’s of major corporations own second homes along the canal. It was eye opening to see the extravagant mansions that are not even used for more than a few days a year.

We stayed at the Marriott Vacation Club on the beach. It was really nice. Everything that we needed was in walking distance. Coconuts is a really good restaurant to go to. The food is really good and it has a really nice atmosphere.

We arrived the day before and stayed one night at the Hilton Embassy Suites Hotel and it was a pleasure. We had a FREE Cocktail Hour that night and a FREE Breakfast the next morning and the accommodations were fabulous. There were four of and more than enough room with the suite which included two queen beds and a sofa bed and sitting are in second room. Fabulous views as well. Will definitely stay there again when booking cruises which sail from this port. Best Experience ever in this area.

Very easy access to and from the port with Embassy Suites being so close. Port to hotel shuttle from Embassy Suites was fast and easy. Very reasonable. Boarding took a while, but then again we were boarding Oasis and this cruise was fully booked so we expected to be in the terminal for some time.

Did not do an excursion. Stayed at the Crown Plaza before and after the cruise, which was convenient right next to the port.

The jungle queen river boat was fantastic. Had drinks and snacks. Looking at all the boats and homes was very interesting. Water taxi was also really good, but expensive, so take advantage of the On And Off privileges. The beach is nice, theres a great Italian restaurant on the Boulevard. Best calamari.
