It was our origination and final port...we spent the night before with our group and then 2 days after the cruise visiting the city. The weather was PERFECT for our visit, and that probably helped a lot. We did a LOT of walking and saw the normal tourist stuff. Seattle has a LOT of hilly streets, very much like San Francisco. Be prepared to deal with that or take rides to make it easier.

Port was okay. Very busy waterfront. Get acquainted with city layout before you depart. Signage scant and elusive. Visited the Space needle and blown glass museum. Both a must.

We flew in a couple of days early and went over to Pikes Market and did some walking on the Waterfront. Beautiful views. We checked out the Seattle Aquarium. Very cute little spot but a little pricey for what you see. The second day we spent at Mt. Rainier National park which I highly recommend making the drive. Breathtaking views and we lucked out on a beautiful day with sunshine. Was definitely the highlight of our trip to Seattle.

I didn't do any excursions here but my opinion of Seattle downtown is not positive. Apparently this city is very popular amongst the homeless and several streets reeked of urine and garbage and i saw vomit near a business entrance which was the icing on the cake. While viewing the ferris wheel and ocean there was a drug deal going on. I have since learned that there are 14k homeless there which is unfortunate but it's probably due to the lovely weather and maybe benefits are best here. The market was crazy-crowded with people and all the lines for food were very long but I've heard that the food is really good and it must be to have people willing to wait in those long lines. I ate at a sports bar across the street from the space needle and while the restaurant was very plain, the food was really good and the restroom was immaculate. I stayed at the Marriott Courtyard 625 2nd downtown and it was nice and has good security.

Seattle is an expensive town, and on a nice day is crowded. Be prepared to walk some significant hills when exploring the Pike Street area and the waterfront.
