Caught the shuttle bus into the city, but could have just as easily walked into the city as the shuttle bus ended up a stone’s throw away from the ship. We didn’t do any excursions but enjoyed wandering through the city centre and visited some shopping centres and a large market.

Locals are friendly but quite pushy to sell tours etc. Can be overwhelming. Did a private tour and felt a bit nervous, but with 6 other couples I was a little more assured of safety in numbers. Firewalking tour from ship was excellent. Very welcoming and informative and interactive.

Jewel of Fiji tour was excellent, but was booked through Viator, rather than the cruise line. It was much cheaper, and the experience was better.

Consider booking Jewel of Fiji tour on Viator, nearly same as ship excursion but do more for a cheaper price. Take reef shoes. Be weary of locals approaching you, and especially if they offer to guide you to local stores. Shopping at mall, for us, was cheaper than the outdoor market. Use local currency.
