Good view of Mount Maunganui. I took a taxi to church, but then afterward we could wander around the port and the beach lined with Norfolk pine trees.

Friendly town, did the included local excursion to see Kiwi farms and farmer market. Informative. Also climbed local peak overlooking town and harbor.

Toured the city on foot - and found lovely shops, beaches and a boardwalk. Enjoyed this city enough to go back. People were very nice, too.

Hells Gate Mud Baths. One of the highlights of this trip. Guide was excellent. The facilities were wonderful. Everyone in the group had a terrific time, and we continued to share pictures throughout the remainder of the cruise.
