Really enjoyed the calm waters at Kangaroo Island, they were prepared for our arrival with markets and great food and loads of wild life. Absolutely stunning port!

Very friendly people on the island, we didn’t book any excursions so just walked around for about an hour checked out the museum and local market before going back to the ship

Six of us rented a van and toured the island independently. First we stopped at Seal Bay Conservation Park for a walk down the boardwalk to the beach. There we saw plenty of sea lions sunning themselves on the sand and surfing in the water. There are platforms along the boardwalk to rest or take photos. If there is time, stop at Pennington Beach, a surf beach for a photo. Then we visited the Wildlife Park where we saw the feeding of the penguins and many other animals all in a natural setting

I love Kangaroo Island there are many amazing tourist attractions to see but unless you pre-planned and book ahead you may be disappointed with just a visit to shore and a walk around Penneshaw. The Sealink ferry terminal is worth visiting for K.I. souvenirs. K. I. has a number of bee keepers exporting their bees around the world. There are spirit distillers that do taste testing, honey farms where you must try the honey icecream, historical lighthouses, wineries, Birds of Prey, wonderful beaches and I could go continue with the many features I have enjoyed on previous visits. I was disappointed that the island businesses are not better represented at the terminal or the Penneshaw Markets. I believe there is a lot of people missing out on the real K.I. experience. I have been on other cruises and often the locals will meet the passengers and offer services directly without the overheads of the cruise ship organisation.

We were the first ship back after the 2020 bush fires. Hired a car that allowed us to see much of the island. Cape Willoughby lighthouse, seal bay, local towns.

Kangaroo Island is beautiful and I recommend the island to anyone who intends to visit South Australia. Penneshaw does unfortunately get a bit seething when the cruise ships are in and the lack of wharf for ship's tenders makes the re-embarkation process slow and tedious, as only one tender can be docked at a time. I recommend that those not doing a tour walk along Penneshaw Beach, past The Frenchman's Rock and along Binneys Track to the Dolphin Lookout. We were fortunate to see two pods of 20+ dolphins, but even with no dolphins, it has beautiful views of Hog Bay. (Funny name for a something so beautiful.)

The excursions seemed expensive from the ship, it is cheaper to hire car and do it yourself. The car needs to be booked well in advance

Unless you do an excursion there is not a lot to do in this port. Several trails to walk and a few small businesses.
