The research center made this tour, the canal ride is fine but like west coast better. Rainforest was informative and lots to see.

Puerto Limon is located near rain forests and there are many interesting shore excursions visiting the rain forest that are available. We received a note from Holland American before this shop warning us of crime in the area. Bottom line is that it's probably not safe to venture out alone.

People friendly, shopping area near port had many choices. Excursions were like by almost everyone I talked to.

This is a very beautiful country. We went on the canal and rainforest tour. We saw monkey's and sloth's. We also went to a banana plantaion and got to see it in action.

The port was pretty nice with some welcome signs to post in front of. There were also more opportunities for shopping and a band entertaining us. For our excursion, we took a boat ride through the backstreet canals of this little run-down fishing village. We were fortunate enough to see a variety of birds, an iguana, and a sloth sleeping in a tree. The best part was seeing 2 dolphins chasing some fish and popping up every once in a while. The tour guide had many interesting stories to tell.
