This was our 1st time in the Panama Canal and if you haven't been there yet...you have to do it! It's such a fascinating on how the whole process of the locks work. After going through the locks we hung out in Lake Gatun for a little bit then returned back out to the Caribbean Sea.

Wasn’t sure what a partial Panama Canal was, now we know. You go into the first lock and then hang in the lake for a bit before going back through the lock.

We didn't stop, but go through the canal and then sat in the lake for so many hours. That was fine loved reading my book; warm enough to sit by the pool.

The 1st lock is very interesting/exciting, the second lock has a much diminished interest, the 3rd lock borders on boring. Then after a bit of a wait in the lake you get to experience all 3 locks again. The first time I went to the Panama Canal on a cruise, it was on Princess and after we went through the 3 locks, they lowered some of the lifeboats and used them to ferry those of us with excursions booked with the ship to shore and we were delivered to the ship after it had exited the Canal. It was much more enjoyable.
