The city of Colon is poor and dirty. Once you get out of the city, the road system is amazing. We went on the Panama Canal Tour. It takes you through 3 of the locks in the Panama Canal on a Ferry. It was a long day, but if you've never been through a lock, it is worth the trip.

you could only go to a few shops. there was a large gate that we were told not to cross. this was such an industrial city. no beauty or tourist attraction. the only thing that was offered was a tour of the canal. i would never want to return to this port!

The saddest city I have ever seen. It serves as a home base for cruises that go into the Panama Canal. It was gut wrenching to drive through the city to see that families are living in such extreme poverty. :(

I did not like this port, I felt attacked and crowded the minute we got off the ship by residents, of this country. Would not visit again

Had no chance to even shop in Panama. Everyone was very upset about this.

Loved the canal visit but hated the Portabello part of the excursion. Probably will never go back here again. Too much poverty. It was depressing. You need to offer just a canal excursion.
