Generally the area beyond the port is pretty run down, there is a shopping area within an easy walk but it’s pretty low rent. You only get a few hours there .

Colon itself it a very dangerous and poor city that should not be visited by foot (other than the port shops directly by the cruise terminal). I will, however, admit that I understand that is was necessary to stop at this port for everyone wanting to take an excursion elsewhere into Panama. I took the kayaking excursion with a stop at the Agua Clara Locks Observation Center, which I quite enjoyed, since it allowed me to see Panama beyond Colon.

Colon itself is just some shops and restaurants so take a tour to Panama it's worth it.

Nothing here but cruise terminal. Not a good area to be in or past terminal.

At the conclusion of our tour to Panama City, we joined the ship in Colon. This is a small, quiet city. They are working to expand the tariff-free zone, so expect some deals on shopping in the future.

Not really for me. We had a taxi to take us around but didn’t really see anything of interest to us. Downtown was dirty and very crowded, did not seem very happy tourists were there
