This was a new port to us. We were glad that there were not especially large crowds at the time we went ashore. Beautiful beach and interesting open air shopping stalls. Some of the artwork made from all natural local materials were pretty clever and beautiful. We did not go on an excursion.

Street 'vendors' were some of the most aggressive I've ever met.

We drank Juan Valdez coffee in his shop. We were greeted by beautiful birds, iguanas and deer. Quite nice.

The guide for my shore excursion was excellent. However, I would have preferred to see a bit more of the city rather than spend time in a bazaar/shopping location for half an hour.

Princess sells a bus tour. DO NOT BUY! A total rip off. It falsely advertised 16 stops, you only get 2 because of time constraints. We didn't learn this tidbit until we looked at our tickets the day before! I asked for a refund but Princess refused. Cheesy audio guide didn't work. The bus never came back around to our stop....after waiting over an hour we caught a cab! The cab driver showed us a few things and was very sweet. I wish I had stayed in the ship. While the old part of town is sorts neat....it isn't kept up very well. Princess advertised that there was lots of shopping....no there isnt. What little there is.....it's all the same stuff....with every merchant and the few high end stores....you pay the same prices here in America.

Nice to see the locals in their area. I know the people are poor, but it did seem that the wanted to exploit the tourist. Emeralds that are mined there are actually cheaper at home.

Discover Cartegena tour. Some pretty sights, but big waste of time.
