Theft, theft, theft. We saw more children working as professional thieves and beggars than anywhere in India. This is one city I would not return to. We had a private tour....The driver was an hour late.

We loved Bombay for its difference but be forwarded...the traffic is ridiculous, the city is overcrowded and not the cleanest. Nevertheless there is so much to see and we enjoined the whole experience. On the first day we had booked a private city tour prior to arriving. The tour took us to the major highlights we wanted to see. Since it was a private tour we were able to adjust it to meet our needs. The second day we had booked a slum tour. I had hesitated to do this but after reading many reviews decided to go ahead with it. The tour was given by a resident of the slum. It was one of the highlights of our trip. I would recommend it to anyone. Of note, we did not book any tour with Celebrity. I found them very expensive and then you are stuck with a bus load of people. We booked all our tours privately and were not disappointed.

We loved Mumbai. The guide was exceptional and the city is fascinating. A wonderful lunch was provided at a restaurant that looked more like a museum. The market here was more interesting than the others and we had a little time to look around on our own. We would like to return to Mumbai. However, one major problem - we didn’t get to see the Dhobi Ghat. How can you plan an all day excursion and leave that out? Many people were complaining about this omission.
