As mentioned earlier, celebrity cancelled the ports of Thailand and Singapore due to the coronavirus. The manner in which they handled this needs to be commended. They assisted in changing the passengers travel arrangements at their expense. The phone lines and internet were open for the remainder of the cruise (4 days) and everyone was provided with an onboard credit for the day that was missed in Thailand. The staff went out of their way to make the balance of the cruise as enjoyable as the beginning of the cruise. No complaints. Now have a reason to fly back to see Singapore another time ;)
Embarkation
5 out of 5
On time and smooth
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
We ate predominately in the main dining room but tried 2 specialty restaurants a number of times which were great!
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Given the smaller ship there were fewer activity areas but we knew that beforehand. The pools were smallish but very acceptable. My husband used the gym which he stated was well equipped.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
There was a wide range of entertainment which we thoroughly enjoyed. Heard some complaints but you have to understand where you are. We were pleasantly surprised.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Staff were always smiling and in good moods despite the long hours. Service was top notch.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The ship is in obvious need of a refurbishment. Having said that, the common areas were clean and looked well maintained.
I had a major issue with all the bathrooms on the ship. The button to flush is behind the toilet lid. Every time you need to go to the bathroom you had to lift the lid and then lower the lid to flush. YUCK!!!! Who wants to continuously touch the toilet?!?!
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Clean but obviously dated. Pale green tile in the bathroom. Our luggage did not fit under the bed so took up precious space in the room but we managed. Mid ship, quiet.
Did not book any excursions with Celebrity or other. Went into Muscat on our own. Walked along the waterfront, visited the souq. The city has a beautiful coastline.
We loved Bombay for its difference but be forwarded...the traffic is ridiculous, the city is overcrowded and not the cleanest. Nevertheless there is so much to see and we enjoined the whole experience.
On the first day we had booked a private city tour prior to arriving. The tour took us to the major highlights we wanted to see. Since it was a private tour we were able to adjust it to meet our needs.
The second day we had booked a slum tour. I had hesitated to do this but after reading many reviews decided to go ahead with it. The tour was given by a resident of the slum. It was one of the highlights of our trip. I would recommend it to anyone.
Of note, we did not book any tour with Celebrity. I found them very expensive and then you are stuck with a bus load of people. We booked all our tours privately and were not disappointed.
Hired a taxi outside the port. He took us to a local beach where we spent the day. He waited for us and drove us back to the port. Negotiate the price before leaving. Our trip cost 80U.S. After speaking with others we probably could have done better. Not bad by our standards, but expensive by theirs. Regardless, we had a great day.
After India, this port was amazingly clean!! People were friendly, traffic was considerably less.
Again, we had booked a private city tour prior to leaving.
Due to the coronavirus, this port was cancelled. There was some disappointment by the guests but everyone appreciated the decision take by celebrity to return to Dubai
