Review summary

Liked the itinerary, with the exception of the Kenya stop being canceled. Security concerns were cited, but the ship sent overnight tours to Kenya anyway. Organization was not good. Had problems with my wife's initial registration on the ship. Numerous changes in instructions regarding visas and vaccinations for Tanzania. Excellent service, but I did not think the food was consistently good. Entertainment OK for a ship this size.

Embarkation

Ship did not properly register my wife and continued to check to see if she was really on board (check passport and ask for her to be physically present at checks) for the next two days.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food in main dining room was uneven. Sometimes very good, sometimes bad. Food in buffet was mediocre. We both had terrible "Wagyu Beef" steaks at the specialty restaurant. Restaurant took the charge off for that meal.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Fitness facility was OK. Pool was salt water, small but OK. Spa was OK.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Some shows very good, some mediocre. Local entertainment brought onto ship was the best.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Excellent service. Staff very friendly and interested in being helpful.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Rooms are small. Ship is reasonably well maintained, but "showing its age." Windows in dining room were always dirty. Engine noise in rear of dining room is very loud.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Cabin was very clean. Bed was comfortable. Cabin was small. Shower small.

Ship tip

Small ship atmosphere, but not really a deluxe experience. I did not think it was a good value for the price.

Would have been better as a one day stop. Stonetown more interesting than the rest of the island.

We decided not to get off after hearing the port talk.
