Overall a fun experience. We haggled a tour out of one of the aggressive Taxi drivers in Port. He showed us the city and took us to some local market. The locals were nice but the vendors couple get aggressive at times. Don't let anyone put anything in your hands. Even water bottles. They will try to charge your for it. Just remember nothing is free.

Sadly we didn’t get to go to this port as it was the day our embassy in Benghazi was attacked. For safety and security—and I agree a wise decision—the captain elected not to go. I was disappointed not to have been able to, but realized it was for the best. Hopefully another day and time!!

Took shore excursion to Carthage and Medina. I wouldn't feel safe to go on our own. We had a police escort for 3 busses and a security detail in each bus. Overall an opportunity to visit historic places.

Skip the first cab stand and negotiate w drivers directly. We got 2 cabs for a 1/2 day for €40, the cab stand wanted €70 for 1 cab for our family. Give the savings to the drivers as a tip!

So glad to be able to visit Tunis at all. Felt safe with police escort. Carthage is unique. Tour guide encouraged us to only shop in " government store" in sidi bad said(sp? ) this was not so - but I guess not unusual in countries where bargaining for prices is common

Great port! Had the Romans marching and camel rides as you got off the boat. We got a taxi at the welcome center for 3 hours it was $60 euros flat rate plus tip. Don't waist your time in the city, see the country instead, beautiful views.
