We had a great time. Great place. Excursions were very educational. Lunch included and it was delicious. Great seeing downtown Mérida. Shopping was nice too.

Didn't spend much time at the port, given we went to the Mayan ruins - Chichen Itza. Be prepared for a 2 hr bus (AC) ride, then 2 hour tour + 1 hour self tour, before taking a 2 hour ride back. Great for catching up on your naps! If you take the Mayan ruins tour of Chichen Itza from Cozumel - the bus ride is 3 hours one way, 45 minute tour and then three hours back - so I would highly recommend taking the tour from Progreso.

DO NOT book this excursion on line. Book it on the ship! This is not a town you want to be walking through. Encountered many drunks at 9:00 am. If you book through the ship then they will pick you up at port. If not then you have to try to get to the right place on your own. Our bus driver took us to the wrong place and then we had to walk to the correct place.

Fabulous! This was the all inclusive beach resort at the Reef Hotel. Food was much better than Cozumel. I think we made a lifelong friend with our tour guide. He was wonderful, telling us about the history of Progreso, Merida, and Mexico on our bus ride to and from the Resort. He made it so interesting. Loved him and loved this place.

This is authentic unadulterated Mexico. Do NOT expect it to be like Cozumel. We had lunch at Los Henequenes. Total tipoff. $40 for chips & salsa, 2 margaritas, and 1 order of chicken fajitas. Went to Eladio's across the street. Amazing! Good view, good wifi. Food is good too!
