Ship tip
Wait to book drink package and excursions! Once onboard - I was offered 10% off on excursions. I bought the drink package early on (5-6 months) but found deals as the embark date got closer (2-3 months).
Didn't spend much time at the port, given we went to the Mayan ruins - Chichen Itza. Be prepared for a 2 hr bus (AC) ride, then 2 hour tour + 1 hour self tour, before taking a 2 hour ride back. Great for catching up on your naps! If you take the Mayan ruins tour of Chichen Itza from Cozumel - the bus ride is 3 hours one way, 45 minute tour and then three hours back - so I would highly recommend taking the tour from Progreso.
We had a BLAST on the drive your own motor boat & snorkle tour - hosted by Aiomar Adventures! See pic and follow Aviomar Tours on Facebook! After driving the boat... relax pool side with freshly made guacuamole and chips + an adult beverage!
