Progresso is quite rough. I would keep your kids very close to you but of course I would do that anyway anywhere you go. The shuttle to the beach was an air-conditioned bus but I was worried that they were going to run over somebody.

To me the people there hassle you to hard and you feel like you have to buy things....and the town was rough and rreally nothing there to see .....the street tacos were good

We took the Mayan / Land Rover Excursions. Had a great time and glad we did. Progreso doesn’t have much to do at port so recommend you book an excursion or have a destination in mind when you go here.

This excersion was the worst I have evr been on any where. Progresso is dirty, nasty, areas of shantys, people cooking in barrels and cans. The beach resort we went to was ok, no sea life in the dirty ocean water and the area around the hotel was roting enpty buildings. This is as good as it could get, travel time to anything was extensive through poor areas. We where given so little time at the excursions that travel took up 1/2 or more of the time, very little time to partake of anything on shore. If this is on the shore excursion list the next time we go on a cruise I would have to look for another cruise.

We paid for the photos and foodie they advertise old ruins, churches, and buildings, none of which are older than 1941.
