Even for experienced travelers like myself that understand selling gifts/services is how the natives make money, Progresso is a bit much. They are aggressively advertising massages and trinkets and it WILL be overwhelming. you HAVE to find a designated activity on this port

I didn't enjoy progresso at all. There was nothing to do unless you went on an excursion. We choose to stay on the boat during that day because we felt that the excursions were way over priced for what they offered.

Uxmal Mayan ruins was a long ride but the guide was very informative and made the ride to and from the ruins well worth the trip.

Nice new port, shops were nice. People might have been a bit too pushy to come into the store and to get you to buy.

Without an excursion the port itself seems dirty and lacking with overly pushy vendors.
