Although the Fantasy is the oldest operating ship in the Carnival fleet the recent dry-dock upgrades have resulted in many improvements for this old lady. The crew was the best in the fleet after 30 cruises with Carnival.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
John and Joshua, our wait staff, were truly outstanding. Everything served efficiently and very personably. Metin (007), our maître d', was energetic and entertaining. He was at numerous events around the ship and always recognized us by name. Maria was not even part of our wait staff but always found time to say hello and invite us to her table at Seaday brunch. Darwin, one of the wait staff, serenaded us each evening with a beautiful baritone voice.

The crew goes above and beyond expectations.
Sosi, the customer service director, went out of her way on several occasions to be friendly and offered a very personal farewell during debarkation. She represents the best of Carnival. Steve, the hotel director, was very friendly, recognizing us by name on several occasions.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
Heavy smoke on the Promenade outside the casino makes this thoroughfare unusable for those with breathing difficulties. The loss of the Promenade then makes it difficult to get around the ship since the outdoor area of the Lido deck is also a smoking area. This was Fantasy's only negative as far as we were concerned and nearly qualifies this section for a frown face.
Cabin / Stateroom

Lue, our cabin steward, was outstanding - always had the room in excellent condition and he was very personable.
I agree, on the Fantasy class ships the open casino smokes up that deck of the ship and makes it hard to enjoy any band playing near the casino. Other then that Fantasy class is my favorite class in the Carnival fleet so far.
