I was skeptical about this port because a lot of people give a bad rating, but Progreso has some "hidden treasures" called "cenotes" and they are gorgeous when the sun hits the water you could see turquoise water all the way to the bottom. They are far from the terminal about an hour, but if you book a tour like I did, I did it with Yucatan Cenotes Eco-Adventures. We did a tour that was planned perfectly we went to the Mayan ruins, the cenote, and lastly they took us to the house of a local where they cooked a traditional lunch everything was fresh and delicious. It was worth it.

The port is so so, vendors definitely pushy to sell you stuff. Did notice the prices were cheaper than in Cozumel. We did the Dzibulchaltun Mayan Ruin and Merida City Tour, booked it independently from Carnival. The excursion was ok, very informative but very rushed. Didn't spend a lot of time at Dzibulchaltun because we had to head to Merida for the City tour. So if you really want to do these tours, suggest book one or the other. It's a 45 min drive from the port to Dzibulchaltun and back. We made it back to the ship with 15 mins to spare. However Merida is a beautiful city, I love the history and architecture. Would have loved to spend more time in Merida sight seeing.

The local merchants are very aggressive about selling their wares, both getting off the pier and getting back on. A direct "NO THANK YOU" will turn them around though.

We buy all inclusive for $40 and it is good as long as you don't go to the nearby beach. At the nearby beach all day the try to sell you stuff and you don't really relax as much.

Did not like this port. Too me it was just too dirty and looked unsafe! Carnival needs to replace this port with something else or just do away with it all together!

It is an industrial port which is not as built up as Cozumel, but we still had fun. We took an Excursion to Merida to see the city. Our guide Ricardo was very helpful and knowledgeable about the city. The food was wonderful and we enjoyed the day

I am sure there were things I missed, but my opinion and that of many passengers on the ship that I spoke with all shared the same view, could have done without this stop.

We just got off right at the ship and shopped a little, free tequila shots everywhere!! Did not feel very comfortable so we got back on the ship pretty quick!
