We did do an excursion in Progreso. Easy transport from the ship to our excursion check-in. Our tour guide to Chichen Itza Myan Ruins was awesome and well informative and funny. The provided lots of cold water which we needed since it was so hot!

To be completely honest, it’s not worth getting off at all. There is nothing too see. I got off for 15 minutes and went back onboard. Definitely if I booked another cruise in Progresso, I’m not getting off, UNLESS I had an excursion or an incentive to get off. Hope if you do go you’ll have a better time than me

We bought our first hammock in Progresso. It served us well. When lying out in it, we would reminisce about our fun time cruising. The cold air in the main shop felt amazing after being out in the sun.

Very sparse but took a cab to Merida and saw the zoo on our own. Not an excursion.

Did not like Progresso. Vendors were very pushy. Town was run down. Didn’t feel safe.

This port is VERY underdeveloped. I would suggest doing an excursion.

Meirisa (sp?) our guide on the Merida excursion kept it interesting and told us loads of history. Loved the bakery, and foodie stops he showed us.

First time in Progreso. Rented a private van (for $30 per person) to take us into Merida. It was worth the money. Grandkids got to see a little bit of Mexico, and some historical buildings.

Visited salt flats, Mayan ruins and church and beach. I would have like more time at the beach. We had less than 20 minutes to swim.
