Took my 4 grandchildren during their Spring Break. Everyone had a great time.

Review summary

Overall, it was a good 5-day cruise. A lot of Spring-breakers but that was to be expected. Wish the ship had been newer/better maintained. Food was exceptional - both at the buffet and the dining room. No complaints there.

Embarkation

Very fast and efficient

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Dining room experience was excellent. Great variety of food. Grandchildren enjoyed tasting different types of food.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Pool area was very crowded. Never really saw the rock-climbing walls. Water slide was poor.

Entertainment

4 out of 5

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Never really saw the room steward except for the 1st day.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Ship is old and needs to be refurbished. Furniture on balcony was rusty.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
It was "OK" but I've been on ships with much cleaner/newer cabins.

Ship tip

It's a smaller ship, which is good. You CAN take a 12-pack of canned soda onboard, but no bottled water. Was able to purchase 12-pk of water for about $5.00.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

2 out of 5
My first time at Galveston port. It's very old. I don't plan on sailing from there again.

Cozumel, Mexico

3 out of 5
Been there/done that. Nothing but shopping unless you take an excursion.

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

3 out of 5
First time in Progreso. Rented a private van (for $30 per person) to take us into Merida. It was worth the money. Grandkids got to see a little bit of Mexico, and some historical buildings.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Very efficient.

Funny now people think the valor and conquest class ships as "smaller". This was Carnivals largest ship just few years back
