We went to the Chitchen Itza Mayan ruins. The cruise people said it would be a 90 minute drive; however, it is more than 120 minute drive. The site is worth the visit, but you need to do this excursion a different time. Two hours at the site with a 4+ hour trip on a hot bus is not recommended except for the most devoted. If you can book a private guide and smaller vehicle, it will be more enjoyable.

The people and shops were nice in the port itself. We did not travel into Progresso itself.

My husband enjoyed the Mayan ruins and the denote swim. I had a great day on the boat enjoying the sun and breeze by the pool!

Yes did an Excursion to a private club outstanding. Go on an Excursion town is very poor.

Did our own thing---caught a cab into the city $20 then found out they had a free shuttle bus, we then were dropped off downtown where we saw a double decker open tour bus---jumped aboard for only $5 pp and had a 40 min tour! Then when we returned there was a lady selling a 3 hour time at an all exclusive resort for only $25 PP cab ride to and from, free drinks, free food, beach front property, canoes, paddle boats all included---when we arrived who was there?? All Carnival folk who paid double for the visit. we were then dropped back off at the free shuttle center where we caught the free shuttle back

People were way too pushy and ended up making us feel so uncomfortable we just went back to the ship after just getting off for a short time. It was super packed with it being Mardi Gras.
