Did our own sight seeing, shopping and rented pulmonías “golf cart taxis” was great, beautiful, and fun. Had great seafood and Micheladas at La Puntilla. Went to downtown and went to the “Mercado” which is a great big Market/flea market a few blocks big and found some great souvenirs.

Took a private van tour of Mazatlán, Norwegian excursions too expensive. Port facility much more relaxed than PV, felt more comfortable and at ease.

Didn't love the city itself. Seemed dirty and unkempt to me. However we went on the canopy zip line tour and had a blast! The tour hosts were fun and well trained. We felt completely safe. The homade quesadillas really hit the spot at the end of the tour. Oh and of course the tequila tasting was excellent:)

Mazatlán was amazing! Even if we did not book an excursion we were able to enjoy the port! We hired a taxi for an hour tour around the city and asked to bring us to a local market where we bought most of our souvenirs. Beautiful and sellers were not aggressive compared to the other 2 ports Cabo San Lucas and Puerto Vallarta.. If you want to go shopping and not pay over priced souvenirs this is the the place to shop. Just make sure you go to the local market and not at the terminal.

We didn’t want to venture far and did not book an excursion, so we took the free shuttle from the ship (which docked at the industrial pier) to the cruise terminal. It was very clean and had some nice shops and opened up into a nice square with shops and bars. We sat in a nice open air table, had wonderful $5 margaritas and excellent chips and salsa. The waiter came around with shots of tequila and got the crowd engaged in a party atmosphere. It was a fun afternoon!

We ate at Panchos. Really good food and margaritas. Worse place was the shrimp market. Margaritas were disgusting. The have a really nice beach in front of Ponchos. Really cool seashells. Shops are all the same crap. So go to one store and you've seen it all.

We didnt do much on Mazatlan. Took a taxi to the golden zone. They do have a very good mexican restaurant at the golden zone. They definitely have their own rules when driving on the road there in Mexico :)

We did an excursion to Stone Island where we received lunch, unlimited drinks and tickets to do 2 activities. We took a tour around the shore first before heading to the island but it was all very fun and a relaxing place to hang out for the day.

Not quite as aggressive venders, but still very much there. I booked an outside excursion at a much reduced price compared to the cruise line. Tour guide had a masters in history and was wonderful.

Again, took the public bus to the end of the line and back and passed by all the rich resorts. Go to the church (especially on a Saturday) and you might get to attend a wedding like we did. Culturally interesting downtown area. Fun to be in the old section. People are friendly and nice.
