Get out of the Golden Zone and explore! The best thing we did was walk to the cathedral and then hire an open air cab to give a tour of the whole city. He got us pictures with views we couldn't have walked to. It was awesome! We ended up having him recommend a restaurant. It was right on the water and served amazing , fresh shrimp. Almost all of the other customers appeared to be locals.

We have been here before. It was nice to just go to the resort that allows you to use all their amenities and relax in the pool.

Taking a taxi through the town and by the water...eating at the Shrimp Factory..don't order too much...the portions are huge and so are the strong margaritas.

Way too many people on the beach trying to sell you something every 3 minutes. Try to get to a more secluded beach than the Golden Zone.

The folkloric dancers were entertaining, but again we were faced with the ever present vendors hawking their wares.

We arrived in an industrial area. The ocean is full of garbage. It is truly a filthy city. We did a nice tour on sea kayaks but just stayed out of the water. We did some shopping and this was enjoyable.

Shopping was great. Beaches are pretty but rocky and small, where we saw. The cathedral was interesting.
