A lovely place. Very friendly people. We even found a Walmart there.

Nothing to do where ship docked, had to take a taxi to town or shore excursion. Again shore excursions were poorly managed.

carnival should have made arrangements to have a english speaking guide and free transportation as it was offered in key west. this was the most irritating part of the whole trip not having englishing speaking guides available

We went to Cancun, but one of the stores we went into, just my husband & I, one of the clerks/workers closed the door as though to keep us there. I requested several times he open the door & when we did we left.

the boat docked a a sand a gravel pit/company. I guess it was a CHEAP port for Carnival. We spent 50+ dollars just getting to the closest town, that was not a great beach at all. Do your self a favor pay for a Excursion at this port it will be better/cheaper or stay on the boat

Spanish for Calica is rock quarry and that is exactly what it is, a working rock quarry!! Several little tents are set up there with vendors when you get off the ship who are way overpriced. Looked at a pair of earrings, they wanted $27.00 for them finally came down to about $17.00 but I had bought the exact same earrings in Cozumel for $2.00 the day before, talk about a mark up. We paid for a taxi and went to Playa de Carmen, cost $26.00 round trip, cramped up in the car like sardines. Plus was they had a nice beach there with beautiful water but found that the prices on most of the souviners were a bit more than in Cozumel. Shop owners are more pushy than in Cozumel. I wouldn't go there again. Wish I had stayed on the ship and relaxed in the sun and pool. This port of call needs to be removed. My next cruise if this is one of the ports of call we'll be looking for another ship. There were 4 people in our party and we all agree that this port will not be visited by us again.

You have to go to XCARET!!!! I love this place! Absolutely beautiful...underground caverns are very neat and there is something there for everyone! DEFINATELY A DON'T MISS. You can definately spend more than one day there! Next time I will purchase my tickets directly at XCARET and take a taxi there. The only negative was that Carnival charged my 4 year old $40 for this shore excursion. Upon going to XCARET I learned that XCARET doesn't even charge for children 5 and under. When questioned about this, the Shore Excursion desk never gave me a good answer and I still paid the $40. ???? There are plenty of taxis when departing the ship and taxis are always present outside the front entrance of XCARET. We asked one taxi driver how much it would be and were told about $10 each way.

Nothing in Calica, but a $10 cab ride to Playa del Carmen is worth the trip!

Unfortunately in Calica there's nothing... but Play del carmen is only 10min away and u sure can take a taxi with 10d when u step outside from the ship. Beatiful beach and good shopping possibilities. Cancun is 1h away and taxi ride to there too is possible with little more dollars. Also there's some great tours too but the best ones sells out quickly.
