The Muyil ruins were very interesting but NOT statuesque or awe inspiring. I was not disappointed but those who had previously been to other larger ruins in Mexico were. Great tour guide and driver. Very accomodating. Liked the stop at the Mayan shop.

We took a taxi to Playa Del Carmen for shopping - taxi drivers were very friendly (only 13.00) much cheaper than Carnival excursion prices. There is also a beach available right there in town. Be ready for all the bartering....drives you crazy after a bit though.

went to Playa del Carmen, the beaches were beautiful right in front of senor frogs. Also there were mexican bars close by that offered great specials.

I believe Cozumel or Cancun would have had more "choices of things to do"
