Since Calica is a port recently constructed to accomodate Carmen, a port six miles away damaged by tropical storm, a $10 taxi fare each way is required to visit the Carmen location. This small town is the standardized tourist trap selling a myriad array of next years garage sale items. After waiting in lines to debark and catch a taxi. we probably wold have prefered relaxing on the ship. Perhaps, excursions provide better activities.

We went on a shopping tour to Can Cun. The bus seats in front of us were broken so that they ended up in our laps, the tour guide could not be heard, the shopping places were over priced and we could have gone to any MALL, anywhere in the U.S.A. and done the same shopping. The tour was almost 2 hours longer than expected (due to waiting for late customers). This caused us to miss diner at our seating.

Port was a joke. I was looking forward to docking at a real port not a construction site

I did enjoy the cave swimming. However when I left the boat, I took all of my money, credit cards, birth certicate, driver's license with me. In order to go swimming, I had to put all of this in a sack with lock and I kept the key. H e threw the sack in the back of a truck and took it to my destinations. After swimming in the underground cave, I came to my destination and picked up my sack. This was great...however absolutly nobody spoke English and I was worried the whole time...

The Talum tour was outstanding and very informative for easy understanding and very well time managed.

I could have done without this port. I was disappointed. I had been to Mexico twice before and I preferred to Cozumel but the port was changed to Calica. Calica was close to XCARET which I recommend as an excursion. The other downside was that it poured that day. Cozumel would have been better. The other excursions within Calica were not great as I was told from the group that shared our dinner table.

Our mission was to relax on this cruise. So we took a 10 minute cab ride into Playa de Carmen, and walked a couple of blocks to the beach. For $40.00 you can get a 1 hour message under a Tiki Hut, with the ocean just steps away and the sea breeze flowing over your body. 10 Stars. Grab a couple of 2.00 beers and you feel like your heaven. Not to mention, many europeans visit this beach and have no problem going topless. Hubby liked that. Not into that, Cancun is a 45 minute car ride, water sport choices are everywhere.

Again I used a tour provider I found on line that was highly recommended they were Edventure Tours with Eddie. They were great. You can not miss the Cenotes. The most awesome thing I have ever seen. And again, our group was 6 people. of course this depends on the time of the year. Some times are much more crowded. But the cenotes we went to were not the same as the cruise excursions. They were not crowded and so much cooler. We knew others who did that one.
