Paid $30 for a taxi to Akumal and snorkeled at Yal Ku Lagoon. Gorgeous place but couldn't find any taxis until we had walked back to the highway. This was probably a half mile hike. At the highway we caught a "collectivo' which is the public transportation. It cost $2 @ to go from Akumal to Playa Del Carmen. In PDL we snorkeled off of the beach near 5th Avenue and then had lunch at La Bresca. Great fajitas and they were cheap.

Calica is a one port town. literally, there is nothing but the port for cruise ship. We went to see Xcaret- and it was Awesome !!! wonderful package of activities, especially if you are traveling with kids. Great culutre, wildlife, aquarium, sea turtles, beach, creeks, and snorkeling.

Theres nothing to do in Calica. We went about 15 min away to Playa Del Carmen and had fun there. The beach is beautiful but the shops are pretty average. They are very similar to shops in the US so theres nothing impressive about those. Bargaining with the locals for a discount is fun.

Great!!! We did the caverns by jeep tour and I recomend it, it was very pleasant and worth paying. You go to caverns and get to swim in them (but their freezing cold) but once in a lifetime oppurtunity. Another thing you can do is get a taxi $10 each trip and ask them to take you to 5th avenue la quinta avenida and u can go shopping. Theres also the ruins of tulum I recommend that too.

We did the "Myan Jungle Explorer" and loved it! We snokeled in the caverns, experienced a Mayan Ceramony. Did 3 ziplines through the jungle, a bike ride through their crop fields to see how the Mayan's grew some of their food, and had a real Mayan cooked lunch. The only thing that I think we chould have done differently, is we did all of the water sports early in the morning when it was cool, and did all of the harder activities during the heat of the day. I would suggest swimming at the end to cool off after all the other activities.

Calica is building their port, really nothing to do here but they have arranged for taxis to take guests to Playa Del Carmen for $10 a taxi flat rate where there is ample shopping and restaurants! We had a great time and the plaza in Playa Del Carmen where the shops are is beautiful ! Many water features and a great view!
