Review summary

The HOLIDAY was a pleasant surprise. I was worried about her age but the old girl is holding up well. She had a pleasant atmosphere and most of the crew were helpful and friendly. The only downside was Debarkation. We docked 5 hours late due to fog, so we spent hours waiting in the lounges so that the crew could prepare the cabins for the next sailing. Since we always book the cheap seats, we were some of the last to go thru customs. That meant that the arriving cruisers were trying to park in the terminal as we were trying to leave.. Not Good. We finally left the terminal at 2:30 P.M.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Formal dining was good with a good selection on the menu. Our waiters were top notch and the desserts are to kill for.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
All of the production shows were good. The music in the Tahiti Lounge was good as was Joe at the Bus Stop. Joe had an awesome list of tunes and could play keyboard or guitar. I listened to him everynight that he played.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Everyone was very nice to us although I heard the contrary from another couple, but you must realize that some people wouldn't be happy if they were hanged with a new rope.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Ship had a makeover after Katrina and the refurbish was a nice improvement over the old decor of the ship. There was, however, a problem with brown water from the hotwter faucets. I didn't care, but you might.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The cabin was nice, beds comfortable and our room steward took good care of us. Bed made twice a day, (I nap alot,) and the ice bucket was filled twice a day also.

Ports of call

Calica, Mexico

Paid $30 for a taxi to Akumal and snorkeled at Yal Ku Lagoon. Gorgeous place but couldn't find any taxis until we had walked back to the highway. This was probably a half mile hike. At the highway we caught a "collectivo' which is the public transportation. It cost $2 @ to go from Akumal to Playa Del Carmen. In PDL we snorkeled off of the beach near 5th Avenue and then had lunch at La Bresca. Great fajitas and they were cheap.
Don't Miss: Lots to do here. In fact you need to spend a week or two. There is Xcaret, Tulum, Xel Ha, Akumal and downtown Playa Del Carmen to explore, plus too many neat places to list.

Cozumel, Mexico

3 out of 5
This was our 7 th trip to Cozumel and we loafed around town and had lunch at the Casa Denis. Small eatery just off of the square. Food was very good and not expensive. Highly recommend it.
Don't Miss: We have been to Paradise Beach, Chankanabb Park, Dzul Ha, and Playa Palancar. All were a nice experience and would not hesitate to go to any of them again.

Pros: Food and shows were great.

Cons: Debarkation
