great culture on this island. our excursion which we thought was on a bus wound up being us crammed in to a 15 passenger van, so getting pictures and stuff was hard. the driver did make a couple of stops for us to get pictures, but it was hard getting in and out of the van

Beautiful area. Did the Hoppa on Hoppa off bus tour which is not part of the cruise. I am not a shopper so we went to see the volcano national park and it was cool.

This was bitter sweet for me. My excursion to the observatory on top of the mountain was cancelled. But my replacement excursion to Volcanoes National Park was a lot of fun.

Not much doing at this port. Rented a car and drove to Volcanoes National Park. Only a 45 min. drive from the Port. This is a must is it!

We kayaked here and it was just ok. They said the owner was shutting it down permanatly in a couple of weeks.

Had a family guide for the Akaka and Rainbow Falls. The new road over the new lava flow was fascinating. Should be on the ship's agenda.

Super easy to get a rental car, as there's a shuttle on the pier to take cruisers to the airport rental car center. We went to Volcanoes National Park and hiked almost 6 miles through the crater. You gotta check the weather, we were prepared with raincoats and were able to beat the torrential rain, but others did not.
