We spent 4 nights in Venice before sailing. What an amazing experience. We took train to Rome as on the ship when we get there it’s a Sunday and Vatican is closed. We saw the Vatican, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Bastille .

First time here. Sailing down the canal to the dock is another "don't miss" experience. There is so much to do here. Plan an add-on to your vacation if you are embarking or disembarking from here. We stayed for 3 nights after the cruise and barely scratched the surface.

This was our embarkation and disembarkation city, so we didn't do any of the tours by MSC here. But we arrived two days early and spent a lovely time. It's Venice, it's out of this world, what else is there to add?!

Go in a day earlier than the cruise departs, as you have to be on the boat by early evening of the departure day, which doesn't leave a lot of time. We stayed at Hotel Paganeli, right near St. Marks square and the water bus stop, which was convenient to get from the airport and to the cruise terminal.

First time to Venice. Will go back. Flew in the morning of the cruise so there was not enough time to spend in the city. One funny thing we noticed was a radar trap set up to catch speeding boats.

People Mover and walking the back streets on our own was a superb way to see Venice

A exquisite wine tasting tour on one of the small islands of Venice plus Mass at Saint Marks on Holy Day. Too touching and special to even describe

We stayed in Venice for 3 nights prior to the cruise and had a wonderful few days. We walked miles down the back streets coming across some lovely areas. We had a gondola ride at 6pm and it was great as the sun was starting to set and we got some fabulous photos. We had a guided tour of the Doge’s Palace and Basilica which included the secret itinerary. It was very informative and our guide Marie-Thereze was very knowledgeable but kept it light hearted. We took the ferry to Burano and Murano. Both islands were stunning. We stayed at Hilton Garden Inn in Mestre. Great hotel with easy access by bus to Venice itself.

No excursion taken. Vaporetto travel (public transport by water - 20 Euros for 24 hr pass) to points along the Grand Canal was used because walking is difficult for handicapped travelers due to large numbers of bridges and steps. Although they are charming and appealing, it is difficult to carry a wheelchair over them. The views, however, are just what one visits Venice to enjoy.
