The concentration camp excursion should not be missed and we did a very good tour of the city of Berlin and the wall and the Holocaust Memorial

Made our own way to Rostock via bus and tram, wandered about taking in the sights before taking the train to seaside town of Warnemaunde. All day ticket cost of €5.20 for all modes of transport can't beat it. Tourist office staff also very helpful. Lovely chilled day.

Probably the cleanest city I had ever seen. We also bought the biggest and most delicious strawberries and witnessed someone walking a giraffe on a leash!

No tour here- on our own. Cruise shuttle guide gave us all maps- great- but didn't know where we could try some German beer! So she referred us to the visitor's center and luckily they pointed us to a real Beer Garden. My husband, the dark beer guy, was thrilled. It was a lovely place and we sat outside in great weather. We were initially supposed to dock at the main port (closer to Berlin), which would have likely allowed us to see a bit more, but NCL changed it to Rostock months before. As it was, we had a very nice afternoon.

We took the train to Rostock which is a very pretty town. The Hanse Sail festival was happening on the riverside with many tall sail boats docked, a funfair and beer and food stalls. The festival was also happening in Warnemünde which we walked around on our return before going back to the ship. Berlin is too far away for a day trip and there are plenty of other interesting places within reasonable distance of Warnemünde/Rostock.

We took the bus ride to Berlin on the 20th Century Experience tour. We saw the Berlin Wall remains, Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint Charlie, and Charlotttenburg Palace, to name a few. Our guide was very informative. We had a delicious lunch and snacks on the bus each way. Wonderful day.
