About Rostock (Berlin), Germany

Rostock is an important seaport and, with nearby Warnemunde, constitutes one of the major shipping centers of Germany. A number of old churches, including Saint Nicholas' Church, dating from the middle of the 13th century, and Saint Mary's Church, a Gothic structure begun in 1398, are located here. The Gothic city hall was also built in the 14th century.

Made our own way to Rostock via bus and tram, wandered about taking in the sights before taking the train to seaside town of Warnemaunde. All day ticket cost of €5.20 for all modes of transport can't beat it. Tourist office staff also very helpful. Lovely chilled day.

We took the train to Rostock which is a very pretty town. The Hanse Sail festival was happening on the riverside with many tall sail boats docked, a funfair and beer and food stalls. The festival was also happening in Warnemünde which we walked around on our return before going back to the ship. Berlin is too far away for a day trip and there are plenty of other interesting places within reasonable distance of Warnemünde/Rostock.
