Not the most exciting place, but we found a nice beach (Pane e Pomodoro) and wandered around the shops for a while. Glad we ignored MSC advice to take their shuttle, which they claimed would take us to the city centre, situated "15 minutes away by bus". It took no more than ten minutes on foot, and that was only because our ship had docked at the furthest away part of the pier. No need for a shuttle at all. 20 Euros saved!

We really enjoyed Bari, whose patron saint is Saint Nicholas. We took a 10€ tour that was fabulous. Not through the cruise line. It was a little Street train that took us through the downtown area and then into the old city gate area. The guides were great and we saw a lot for a small price!

The excursions sent tickets to our room for the shuttle service without our asking. We were going to take it easy on the boat as we didn't see that there was much to the city. We ventured out anyway and it was great. We caught up with a tour agency and they had a train that took us through the city, to 2 important and beautiful churches, met some local tradespeople and saw how some sun-dried pasta was made, and then we were off to play music with a local musician of traditional music to the region. The musician asked for help from the audience, so that was fun. We also went into another store to taste local wine and 3 different types of olive oil, from normal to spicy. I don't recall the third.

Not a great place to visit. It's a stop because it's a boarding port also. But it was "fine". If you what to taste something, try the fish. Fresh fish is great.
