We did Messina not Palermo. No excursion and that was actually a good thing! It was a wonderful city to walk about, we stopped and visited a church, a cafe, a restaurant, a few monuments/statues and a couple of shops!

We did not do an excursion as we walked into town as it is close to the port and did our own thing. Visited the cathedral, palace and palantine chapel, Quattro canti, piazza Pretoria and wondered around.

Palermo reminded me of Manhattan. We went to a little town called Cefalus. It was very quaint and beautiful. Then we went back and I spend some time in the designer district close to the ship. It's within walking distance from the port.

Rainy day made it difficult. City hard to navigate and sketchy.

It was very dirty and had little to offer. We did not do an excursion. We should have stayed on the ship.

So much to see and do, one day isn't enough. The Sicilian specialties in food must be tried, especially the Pasta con Sardo, Riceballs, Cassata.

Length of time at port was short but was the best port available to enjoy sites and explore.
