Went on an excursion with a company not affiliated with the ship (cruisingexcursions.com), therefore, the tour bus was not able to approach the ship. The tour group had to walk half an hour each way to get to and from the bus. It was only a 4-hour excursion and the trip to Aix' en Provence took about 45 minutes each way. Therefore, it was an abbreviated tour with the guide when we got there.

We took MSCs shuttle bus to Marseille (16€/adult, 10€/child) and walked down to the old harbour. Other options are taxis (about 25-30€/ direction) and the free shuttle bus in the harbour. The problem is that depending from the docking position it can be up to 1km of walking to the bus stop. Our ship docked exactly there. There we took the petit train that took us on a tour up to the cathedral for 8€/adult and 4€/child. We enjoyed the tour and the views. After that we took a ride on the giant wheel at the old harbour.

Did not want to pay $15 RT for the ship’s shuttle to old town. We took a free shuttle to a newer part of town and due to time constraints we didn’t catch a bus into old town. Raining again, so just went back to the ship.

We took the Cassis tour which was really cute, though no guide or anything, just wandering around the streets doing some shopping. It was so early when they took us that the cafes were not even open! We also wandered around Marseille which was also nice, but didn't have much time.
