Excursion was to Basilique Norte-Dame de la Garde. Was pretty cool and worth it. The rest of Marseille was not fun. A lot of vagrants and dirty. Had a hard time finding shops

From far, Marseille looks picture perfect. However, I wasnt impress with the place, on seeing the state of the city, with all the doggy pooh and rubbish.

We were extremely disappointed the city was ugly and there were homeless people and vagrants all over. They were using the rest room on the sidewalks and sleeping in the parks and sidewalks. There was a fear for our children, we left quickly. The smell was overpowering, one lady that was from France asked us not to judge France by this city. She proclaimed that in other areas of France its much more beautiful than this place.

Use transport from the ship. We walked for miles out of the port, caught a local bus because the port opens up onto a massive dual carriageway and it is miles from the old port.

Other than Notre Dame this is a port that can be skipped. French people were rude except for those working in the candy store.
