Just finished the cruise. We did a private excursion to Provincal country side and Le Beouf (sp?). My wife arranged it and it turned out great. 6 of us in a van with a guide to talk to us for the hour ride there and back. We had two seven year olds between the 2 families. The countryside was great. Olive oil tasting was nice and the castle ruins and town were fun. The kids loved the castle tour. Amazing views of the valley, ruins and things to climb, cross bow shooting, a blacksmith working, really pretty town and nice people. We only did the 1/2 day tour due to the kids and ate in Marseille before getting on the boat. I would have preferred a whole day in the countryside versus Marseille.

Axe on Provence was beautiful, and restaurants and markets were great. We had to come back too early. Our guide was very boring / monotonous so we left our group and explored on our own and met back at 1:00. We should have taken a bus or taxi on our own because we basically paid excursion fee just for transportation.

We just walked around the city and did not have an excursion planned. It was very windy that day. Like 30 knots windy! People were friendly and the city was charming.

You need to take a bus to get out of port and see anything. Actually recommend going to Aix en Provence if you can: a beautiful and charming smaller town with lovely architecture and quaint shops all around.
