Black Forest ebike was extraordinary! Hard excursion, but rewarding when complete!

We chose the optional excursion of an e-Bike ride through the Black Forest. This was one of the highlights of our trip. It was about an eight hour day, but with frequent stops, breaks, and a long lunch, it was a very comfortable ride. Being able to really see the country and be close to it versus seeing it out the window of a tour bus made this well worth the full day. Our guides were very knowledgeable and gave us plenty of time to explore and take pictures along the way.

I really liked the town we went to here as well. We did the Riquewihr Walking Tour. Such a cute little town. The tour was great because our tour guide went over all of the highlights, but after the tour, I felt like we didn't have enough time to explore.

Husband did the Alsace vineyard bike tour that included a stop at a local vineyard. He said it was his absolute favorite bike tour of all of them. I did the Frieburg walking tour. Love the local guides. Had absolute fun with the street market.

Hike the Black Forest and go to Colmar. It was a great day.

This was our first stop and heard that the included tour was a 3 hour bus ride. We decided to pay extra for the WW2 tour and it WAS UNREAL! Our tour guide was super informative and what a great storyteller! It was all about the story or Audie Murphy and he took us through the town and the exact location Audie jumped on top of a burning German tank. For those that are not familiar with him, I too did not know who he was. It was truly a great experience seeing the space firsthand where the Americans helped to save the French during the war. After we toured, we took to our own walking tour of the city and loved every step! We self guided ourselves and walked the town. Beautiful!

We visited the Black Forest which was beautiful. While there, we visited a cuckoo clock store, and demonstrations of glass blowing and the construction of the famous Black Forest Cake. No free samples of cake, though, but lots to buy. During this stop, we had several optional excursions in the afternoon. My husband took the Colmar in World War II Museum and Memorial tour. If you didn't already know the history of Audie Murphy, this tour certainly reinforced what an American hero he was. I took a tour of the Medieval Village of Colmar which is actually in France. It was okay; I could have stayed on the Viking Idi and been satisfied.

From here, we toured the Black Forest with a guide who loved his subject. We learned a lot, saw a lot and can't wait for our cuckoo clock to arrive. After lunch we toured the Colmar Pocket museum, battleground and the Audie Murphy memorial. Our guide was from Prague, Czech Republic and a true scholar of WWII. He made it clear that without the allies defeating Nazi Germany, as a Slav, he and many other ethnicities would not exist. There was not a dry eye in the group and we veterans felt very proud to have served.

Take the hike to the cathedral over the town--well worth the walk, even in the rain!

Walked the town in the morning rather than the Black Forest excursion and then went to Freiburg in the afternoon.
