If you haven't been on a river cruise, I would highly recommend it. I like how the excursions are included in the price of the cruise and that you get to experience the history and culture at each stop. I also enjoyed the smaller-scale experience, the excellent service and getting to know the crew.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
The embarkation experience was good. We arrived very early so we couldn't get on the ship as they were still working on getting it ready for our sailing. However, they stored our luggage for us so that we could freely explore Amsterdam before boarding time. They were also there to provide recommendations and directions.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The food was very good and it was awesome that they had healthy and vegetarian options at every meal. I also enjoyed the Bistro area on this ship where you could grab a quick lunch if you didn't want to sit in the dining room. The soups are amazing. I'm not a soup person, but I loved these soups! Also, the Chef's Table meal and experience was outstanding!
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
I didn't do many activities on the ship because there was so much to do with the different tours each day. I did like hanging out on the the sun deck at the top of the ship. I also heard the fitness classes and spa were topnotch.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
The ship brought in some fantastic local performers to perform in the lounge area.
Children's Programs
I was not traveling with children.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
This was probably one of my favorite things about this river cruise. The crew and service was outstanding! It is a smaller ship so it was nice to get to know the crew. They were fantastic!
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
This ship is beautiful! The décor has vibrant colors and the layout of the ship was perfect. It was easy to navigate to the different areas of the ship.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
The cabin was very clean and our cabin steward did an excellent job. We were in a balcony cabin which I feel is a must for a river cruise so that you always have a view of the beautiful countryside.
Ship tip
I always had the perception that a river cruise was only for an older crowd, but after experiencing it, I feel like it is for anyone who is interested in exploring the culture of different countries and towns. It was fabulous!
We did the Rudesheim Wine Tasting and I enjoyed it. We also did the Siegfried's Mechanical Music Museum and I liked it more than I expected I would. It was fascinating.
I really liked the town we went to here as well. We did the Riquewihr Walking Tour. Such a cute little town. The tour was great because our tour guide went over all of the highlights, but after the tour, I felt like we didn't have enough time to explore.
We left this day so we had to hop on the train to the airport to fly home. I didn't realize that there was a post excursion in advance of my trip, however, if I was to do this trip again, I would do the post excursion in Basel.
